This policy explains what information The C.O.O. Consultant collects when you visit thecooconsultant.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain, and we collect as little as we need.
Who we are
The C.O.O. Consultant is a consulting practice based in Los Angeles, California, providing fractional COO services, grant writing, and nonprofit capacity coaching. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean The C.O.O. Consultant. You can reach us about anything in this policy at paul@thecooconsultant.com.
Information you give us
Contact form. When you send a message through the form on our homepage, we receive your name, email address, organization (if you provide it), and your message. We use this only to reply to you and to follow up about the work you asked about. Form submissions are received and stored by our website host, Netlify, on our behalf.
Email. If you email us directly, we receive whatever you choose to include, and we use it the same way.
Scheduling a call. Our "Schedule a Call" buttons take you to Calendly, a separate scheduling service. When you book, the details you enter (such as your name, email, and any answers to booking questions) are collected by Calendly and shared with us so we can hold the call. Calendly's handling of that information is described in the Calendly Privacy Notice.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located (at the city or region level), what kind of device and browser they use, how they arrived (for example, from a search engine or a link), and whether they click a button such as "Schedule a Call" or send the contact form. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology to do this. We see this information in aggregate reports; it does not tell us who you are. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy, and you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Other services that load on our pages. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and a "Preferred Sources" button from Google News. When your browser requests these, Google receives standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type. Our host, Netlify, also keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, pages requested, and time of request) to deliver the site and keep it secure.
How we use information
- To reply to your messages and prepare for calls you book.
- To understand which pages and articles are useful, and improve the site.
- To keep the site running and secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising.
Your choices
- Opt out of Google Analytics on any site by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings. The site works normally either way.
- Ask about your information. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing paul@thecooconsultant.com. We will respond within 45 days, and we will not treat you differently for making a request.
California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights described above: to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to correct it, and to have it deleted, subject to limited exceptions. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of, but you are welcome to contact us with any question about your rights.
How long we keep information
We keep contact form submissions and emails for as long as we need them to respond to you and to keep normal business records, and then delete them. Google Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months.
Children
This site is meant for organizations and professionals. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
